TRAGEDY OF THE SOVIET GERMANS, THE - by John Philipps, 1983. This book deals with the fate of Germans in Russia during the Communist era. It begins with a pre-1914 history of the German colonies in Russia, describes the series of tragic events that eventually destroyed everything the colonists had built in Russia, the deportation and internment in slave labor camps during and after the Second World War, and the present day life of survivors. Much of this information comes from the author's own experience while living in the Soviet Union until 1944. Soft cover - 184 pages.
