Crimea Archives

This web page will be used to keep the Crimea Research community apprised of the on-going activities related to the retrieval of records from the archives in the Ukraine and Russia.

In September of 2008, the Executive Team met with the director of the Simferopol Archives and we now have an agreement, similar to our agreement with the Nikolaev Archives, to retrieve German-Russian records. Subsequent to the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, contact with the Simferopol Archive has been lost.

Since 2012 an independent team called the Friends of Crimea Archive Aquisition Team has been obtaining Crimean Roman Catholic records from the Russian State Archive in Saratov. At present this team consists of 24 individuals from the USA, Canada and Germany. The resulst are being shared with GRHS on the Crimea RIG Research page.
