B | D | M | Entry Type | Description of Data Extracted |
 | | | LAST | The last name of the person for who the entry is concerned |
 | | | FIRST | The first name of the person for who the entry is concerned |
 | | | D/M | day and month of event (birth, death and marriage - do not confuse with baptismal and burial dates) convention to be used is exampled by 6 Jan, 15 Mar, 27 Sep, etc. |
 | | | YEAR | the year of the event for the entry, example 1834, 1867, 1879, etc. |
 | | | PLACE | place of the event |
 | | | FATHER | father’s first name is all that is necessary unless the last name is different than the child |
 | | | MOTHER | (optional entry) the mother’s first, middle and last name as reflected by the register entry (many of these mother’s names are difficult to read, and it adds great amounts of time to the effort - so it is up to each extractor how much, if any, of the mother’s name should be extracted) |
| | | PARENTS | most of the entry’s will provide only the father, the wife or husband, and a few will also provide the mother’s entry. ( review the guidance provided for father and mother above) |
| | | BIRTH PLACE | Some of the older folks in these records will provide crucial details/clues leading family researcher’s back to earlier origins. (The data from these Bessarabian extractions for this particular entry will be taken to support another project. It is understandable that some of these entries that are important, will not be readily readable by all extractors. In such cases, these type of entries should be pointed at back to the project coordinator, so somebody else can be called on to perhaps be able to better read the entry.) |
 | | | FILM | The seven digits of the film itself, examples 1884010, 1892334, etc. |
 | | | ITEM | Each film is broke down by sections called ‘items’. The item number must be identified here, examples 1, 2, 3, etc. |
 | | | PAGE | Each item should have it’s own set of page numbers. In many cases there will be more than one set of page numbers. For the purposes of these films and these projects, we must all use the page number that will be found on the upper right corner of the right hand page (most will have a left and right page to make up a set of entries - except for many of the marriage reports). |
 | | | REG | Each entry is normally given a register number. The first entry for a particular report will have the number 1, the second entry the number 2, etc. |
 | | | REMARKS | For deaths, enter the years/months/days reflected in the register entry. For other data, such as wife’s widow name, early residence, and any thing that makes sense to note, use this area as free space to enter in simple form. |
