The GRHS Mail Server is a 'CLOSED Server' which means that only members can send or receive mail by means of the server. The closed nature of the server means that some of the commands that are normally automatically generated from the mailbox are turned off or are only available to the Moderator by means of a password. As the list becomes more established and members get to know each other, it is our intention for members to participate openly in the continued development of the Terms of Reference and in the future services that this server may provide.
PURPOSE OF THE GRHS LISTSERVERS:
Provide an online electronic medium for sharing information and research experiences
Cultivate an awareness and appreciation of our ancestor’s history
Educate members while supporting team efforts and projects
Foster cooperation among researchers and encourage networking
Organize researchers who have a heritage interest in specific colonies or regions.
Coordinate and share general information that will help to reconstruct the history of our ancestors
HOW TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF A MAILING LIST:
Send a short e-mail to the appropriate List Manager with a short introduction of
yourself and the list that you would like to become a member of. In your
introduction, please include the villages and the surnames from those villages
that you are researching. You must
be serious about your research and not in the business of making money by
selling research to fellow
members. Please note that this does not preclude members from recovering costs
associated with research.
If you are already a member of a mailing list and would like to change your e-mail address, please send a message to the appropriate list manager shown below. Please include in your message the list(s) that you are subscribed to. You can also send an e-mail to the appropriate list manager if you wish to unsubscribe.
