JOHNNY SCHMIDT: Son of a Dakota Pioneer - by B.A. Bose, 2002. The sketches
contained in this manuscript cover a variety of subjects designed to reflect the
way of life of one of the minor religious groups that fostered the hope that
they might keep aloof from other groups and thus maintain the customs, attitudes
and beliefs that had constituted their way of life for generations in the Old
World. The experiences of Johnny Schmidt reflect some of the influences that
made their impression on the younger folks and sped up the process of
Americanizing the entire group to a degree, though more particularly affecting
the American-born generations. Soft cover - 235 pages.
