FAIRY-TALES OF SIBERIAN FOLKS - compiled by Galina Smirnova - translated by Olga Myazina and Galina Shchitnikova, 1992. This selection contains fairy-tales of the following indigenous peoples of Siberia and the Russian Far North: Russian, Tuvinian, Evenk, Selkup, Dolgan, Yakut, Tofalarian, Ket, Buryat, Mansi, Nenets, Khakass, Nanai, Nganassan and Shorian; as well as proverbs, signs, sayings, and a short glossary of little known words and expressions in Russian and English. Some of these peoples are extremely small in number. For example, there are less than a thousand Tofalarians and Shorians. So it is all the more important to pass on their rich oral heritage to the young readers of today. Hard cover - 207 pages.
