The GDO EWZ Village - Family Database Project

UNDERSTANDING THE DATABASE

This database is being brought together by and for the GRHS members who are researching families in the Grossliebental District of Odessa [GDO]. There is only one use for this database once it is brought into existence and shared with the membership here on our GDO web pages, and that is to be used as “notes” to aid the GDO family researcher. This database is not intended in any form or fashion to replace the work that a family researcher must do in order to do their own research.

This database is intended to leverage the power of groups working in team harmony to produce a product that is of benefit to all, and as a result provide “notes” that will aid those who are participating in keeping this database as current as we can. The family researcher inherently has the basic responsibility to engage source documents for every detail involved in their own family research. There are no shortcuts that will yield a proper family “researched” document. [Stopping short with indexed data, or using other peoples research results is not an acceptable practice among dedicated family researchers.]

This database is a work in progress. If you have EWZ information that you would like to share with other GRHS GDO members, please send it to and it will be added to the appropriate surname/village page. Please provide the source for the information you are sending. Happy hunting.

Much of the work you will find in this project will be reflecting the index materials found in the EWZ 50 series of films [849 reels of films].  A listing of the EWZ 50 Series films is available, and as we start this project the last 3 dozen or so films in the collection is all that remains to be indexed.  By the time we have prepared our “Family” files for the GDO, the indexing of these few remaining films will be completed and we can review them to see if there are more files to add to our collection here. We will link to the listing of the films we have in our film collections in Bismarck.

These files have been prepared for sharing with the GRHS membership. They are not to be sold for profit nor posted on any personal website.
A link to the public access areas of this website is however permitted.
