Bessarabian RIG Mail Server
The Bessarabian RIG Mail Server is a closed server which means that only GRHS members can send or receive mail by means of the server. The closed nature of the server means that some of the commands that are normally automatically generated from the mailbox are turned off or are only available to the moderator by means of a password. It is our intention that as the list evolves and members get to know each other and work together, they will participate openly in the continued development of the Terms of Reference and in the future services that this server may provide.

PURPOSE OF THE Bessarabian RIG LISTSERV:
* to provide an online electronic medium for sharing Bessarabian RIG information and research
experiences;
* to cultivate an awareness and appreciation of our Bessarabian RIG ancestors’ history;
* to educate members while supporting all Bessarabian RIG team efforts and projects;
* to foster cooperation among Bessarabian researchers, and encourage networking among those
of the same villages and families;
* to organize Bessarabian RIG researchers who have a heritage interest in the Bessarabian
colonies;
* to coordinate and share general information that will help to reconstruct the history of the
Bessarabian colonies and our many families that lived there.
HOW TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE BESSARABIAN RIG MAILING LIST:
[Remember - only GRHS members can join this mailing list]
Send a short e-mail to List
Manager Rich Aspenleiter at
containing
the information described below to establish yourself as ‘bona fide’. Bona fide
means that the researcher is serious in his/her research and that he/she is not
in the business of making money by selling their Bessarabian research to fellow
members. Please note that this does not preclude members from recovering costs
associated with research.
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR INTRODUCTION MESSAGE:
We're not asking for a four-page report - just a short profile about yourself that will be forwarded to the entire group as your introduction.
Please include:
* your name and e-mail address;
* a list of the Bessarabian village or villages you are researching;
* family names you are researching (for Bessarabian villages only);
* in which part of the world you presently reside and
* if you are a member of GRHS.
In addition, please mention how you heard of the mailing list and tell us a little about yourself - only that which you feel comfortable in sharing. Of course, the more you tell us the clearer our picture of you will be, so feel free to include anything you care to about your earlier or future research and any other interesting items you can think of.
Once Rich receives your information he will plug you into the list by sharing your self-introduction with the rest of the list. At that time, you will receive a welcome email with instructions, guidelines, and commands regarding the list.
The Bessarabian RIG Mailing list is co-managed by List Manager Rich Aspenleiter and Organizing Advisor/Assistant Dale Wahl.
