HOP Mail Server
The HOP Mail Server is a 'CLOSED Server' which means that only members of this list can send or receive mail by means of the server. The closed nature of the server means that some of the commands that are normally automatically generated from the mailbox are turned off or are only available to the Moderator by means of a password. As the list becomes more established and members get to know each other, it is our intention for members to participate openly in the continued development of the Terms of Reference and in the future services that this server may provide.
PURPOSE OF THE HOP LISTSERV:
HOW TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE HOP MAILING LIST:
Send a short e-mail to containing the information described below to establish yourself as 'bona fide'. Bona fide means that the researcher is serious in their research and that they are not in the business of making money by selling their HOP research to fellow members. Please note that this does not preclude members from recovering costs associated with research.
Please note that when RIGs were first created in 2004 it was intended that members of the HOP Mailing List must also be members of GRHS. At that time the GRHS Board of Directors decided to offer a "trail period" for non-members. This "trial period" was not enforced until the end of 2008. Accordingly we now only allow GRHS members to join this Mailing List. See this link for membership information.
WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR INTRODUCTION MESSAGE:
We're not asking for a four-page report! Just a short profile about yourself, which will be forwarded to the entire group as your introduction.
In addition, please mention how you heard of the mailing list and tell us a little about yourself - only what you feel comfortable in sharing. Of course, the more you tell us, the clearer our picture of you, so feel free to include anything you care to about your earlier or future research and any other interesting items you can think of.
Once the list owner receives your information he will plug you into the list by sharing your self-introduction with the rest of the list. At that time, you will receive a welcome email with instructions, guidelines, and commands regarding the list.
