From Germany to Hungary to Russia Project

Research conducted by GRHS Clearing House Odessa Hungarian Project Team: Gayla Ohlhauser Gray, Dale Wahl, Ralph Wiseman, Shirley Gibbard, Elli Wise and Carolyn Schott

"This is a project that is very dear to my heart because my own great great great great grandfather, Georg OHLHAUSER, came  from a village in Hungary (possibly Vervacz) to Freudental  in 1806. I have yet to find records for him in Hungary but in my search, I have come across other records that I hope will help you find your ancestors if they settled in Hungary before going into South Russia. Remember, many of our ancestors spent just a short time in Hungary (one winter) while others spent many more years there. Remember to look at alternative spellings. I would like to give special thanks to Shirley Gibbard and Elli Wise who supported this project by translating many German documents to English so this information could be understood and shared by all GRHS members. " Gayla Ohlhauser

This database is not intended to replace the work family researchers. The family researcher inherently has the basic responsibility to engage source documents for every detail involved in their own family research. This database is a work in progress. Many of these sources are available either online or at the GRHS library or book store.
