The Germans from Russia Heritage Society is a non-profit international organization dedicated to researching family history and preserving the heritage of the Germans from Russia. Our members currently come from 48 of 50 U.S. states, 6 of 10 Canadian provinces, and 9 countries around the world from Europe to Asia to Australia to Central America.
We work actively with archives in Ukraine, Russia and Germany to obtain records for our members to use for their research. Our extensive network of volunteers provide translations and indexes to these records to assist fellow researchers and help preserve our culture.
The majority of our members focus on the German villages in the Black Sea area of the former Russian Empire.
Your membership in GRHS includes:
Access to the members-only section of the GRHS website, an extensive
collection of research materials available only to GRHS members. Data
available includes records retrieved from archives in the former Russian
empire, translations of archive documents and letters and notices from North
American German-language newspapers, indexes to existing records and
microfilms, family and village compilations prepared by our volunteers,
photos of German-Russian villages and much more.
The members-only data continues to grow. From June to December 2008,
the number of files on the website increased by 47%!
